lectio
From the Book of Genesis (from 12.1 to 4)
The Lord said to Abram, "Leave your country, your kindred and your father's house to the land I will show you. I will make you a great nation and bless you, will make your name great and be a blessing, bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you and in you shall be blessed all the families of the earth. " So Abram went, as the Lord commanded him.
The song tells the story of a call followed by an answer: the story of our faith, beginning with Abraham the father of believers, is contained in the preparation and is Jahvist preparing the deeds of Abraham and all the patriarchs.
God manifests himself, says: "in you shall be blessed all the families of the earth" (v. 3c) is a renewal with the story of the origins (Jan 2-11), a story that begins with Adam (= coming from the soil, Hebrew Adamah = earth, translated later by personal name Adam) and his curse of disobedience source (= 5 times in Gen 3,14.17, 4.11, 5, 29, 9.25).
The story begins with Abraham's obedience full of blessing that is mentioned in the song 5 times.
"Go from your country, your country and the neighboring your father, to .... "
God speaks. For Abraham is something unheard of until then because he was always to turn to God and not vice versa, but what upsets most of this time Abraham is that God does not look like perfection, but as one who stoops to by establishing a relationship of communion with him and dialogue. In this relationship with God, Abraham discovers a "more" and accept his invitation to leave, to leave everything. Abraham
part leaving what are the origins of human life by breaking the trunk of his land, his people, his clan renounce to all the security that you can find and accept the "more" God who loves him and with him at every moment.
In his welcome, Abraham; listen to God with faith and obedience as if he was going over the words of the Psalmist: "Hear, O daughter, give ear and forget your people and your father's house" ( Ps 45.11). These are words that the poet turns to his girlfriend and alluded to the vocation of Abraham must leave his country, his people, his homeland, a destiny linked with that of the king and his people and this is the fate that Abraham is a great blessing.
The words of the psalm: Look, look, give ear, Abraham attitudes are crucial and that everyone must take in dealing with the Word of God
"So Abram went." The relationship with God requires a response. Abraham responding in obedience to the Word of God Obey refers to the Latin root means ob-audit and agreed to play, a play that sticks with its "yes" to what he hears.
Abraham, in fact, driven out from their land by the word of God, who promises to give it a name and a great people and this is because "The King Messiah was enamored of your beauty" continues the psalmist.
In the call that God makes to Abraham, to each of us there is a beauty contained in obedience and trust, two ends that extend the our horizon where God will be the end of the weekend. Abraham
part and is geared towards greatness, that of God, not to enter into a utopia, but to enter into the fullness of the mystery, leaving the center of his security to get into that of grace.
But why would immediately obey? Why not ask for anything? Why not ask questions, demand explanations? Why not put conditions? "Gotta get away from my country", why? And then to where? "Being in strange land" outside "from my safety," outside "from my area, why?
Abraham does not arise these and other questions, but simply obeys, responds to God with a "yes", does not want to know, because his knowledge is new now, and this news is disclosed to you in the God who spoke to him and trusts him
The beginning of Abraham, the trust he puts in God meant that St. Paul defining "the father of all believers" (Rom 4:11 ff). For example, we are constantly that invites us to trust the Word abandoning its you who can not disappoint, and always trust in any case.
But how can you ask, obey, trust no guarantees? Abandonment of Abraham, there is a humble, who lost him to rise and get rich, "I will make you a great nation and bless you, will make your name great and be a blessing. " Abraham discovers that she possesses a wealth does not consist in things for himself, but in enriching the other. In fact, God said: "In you shall be blessed all the families of the earth." It looks like a walk in the words of Jesus when he says: "Do not store up treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal . For where your treasure is, your heart will be also "(Mt 6.19 to 21).
is a promise of happiness that is contained in the blessing, happiness is intended to all the families of the earth. The money is not the end of the blessing of Abraham's call but the call to happiness. You and I are wanted to be happy. Abraham teaches that happiness is very strange, is not achieved by ignoring the self but caring for others and that wealth is not a fill his piggy bank, but empty, not in wanting things for themselves, but give it.

2. Can you feel the sense of freedom and happiness for the fact of being in front of you that God loves you?
3. Have you ever thought about the sense of obedience as confidence and trust in God?
4. Have you ever thought that your happiness is being a gift to each other?

today You Lord speaks to me, calling me by name and interest in my story.
Like Abraham, I trust you and I surrender to you because I know you love that does not disappoint and defeat the darkness of chaos and death. Makes my life a blessing and a treasure for those I will meet along the way and at my side. Amen
